Dawson County Tea Party meeting with special guest District Attorney Lee Darragh at the Georgia Racing Hall of Fame on Tuesday, June 9, 2015.

For our June membership meeting, the Dawson County Tea Party is excited to bring you the star of COLUMBIA PICTURES latest movie, Mr. DISTRICT ATTORNEY.

When not starring in movies, Lee Darragh has been prosecuting the bad guys in Dawson County’s Judicial Circuit since May 1986 and became top District Attorney in August 2005.

Lee will be presenting the role and organization of a Grand Jury, how a Grand Jury is chosen and the duties of those selected for service. He will also discuss the role of the Grand Jury in the Ferguson, MO case.

So don’t miss out on this exciting and educational presentation because it’s best to meet Lee at the Georgia Racing Hall of Fame than meet him from the other side of a courtroom.

Following Lee’s presentation, we will open up the floor for a question-answer session.

Berger v. United States, 295 US 78 - Supreme Court

Post by Nydia Tisdale » May 1st, 2017, 2:00 pm

Berger v. United States, 295 US 78 - Supreme Court 1935

The [Prosecuting] Attorney is the representative not of an ordinary party to a controversy, but of a sovereignty whose obligation to govern impartially is as compelling as its obligation to govern at all; and whose interest, therefore, in a criminal prosecution is not that it shall win a case, but that justice shall be done. As such, he is in a peculiar and very definite sense the servant of the law, the twofold aim of which is that guilt shall not escape or innocence suffer. He may prosecute with earnestness and vigor — indeed, he should do so. But, while he may strike hard blows, he is not at liberty to strike foul ones. It is as much his duty to refrain from improper methods calculated to produce a wrongful conviction as it is to use every legitimate means to bring about a just one.
