NYDEO: Moderator Peter Canfield kicks off Fake News & Political Persuasion 09/20/17

Peter Canfield is a partner resident in the Atlanta office of Jones Day, specializing in civil litigation generally and media law and litigation in particular.

A graduate of Amherst College, where he was an editor of the student newspaper, and Yale Law School, where he was an editor of the Yale Law Journal, Peter clerked for United States Court of Appeals Judge Frank M. Johnson, Jr. (Eleventh Circuit) and United States District Judge Myron Thompson (M.D. Ala.) and served as an attorney with the Civil Rights Division of the United States Department of Justice.

He is a founding director of the Georgia First Amendment Foundation as well as the annual Georgia Bar Media & Judiciary Conference and co-chaired for many years the biennial media law conference of the Newspaper Association of America, the National Association of Broadcasters, and the Media Law Resource Center.

He has served as a member of the Executive Committee of the Media Law Resource Center, as chair of its Defense Counsel Section and now as vice chair of its International Law Section. He has also served on the Governing Committee of the American Bar Association’s Forum on Communications Law.
